Yes, I saw various estimates for the impact of Sandy, and went with a lower one. I think $19bn is just for NYC and is only the actual physical damages to buildings. Whereas the wider economic damages were much higher (and ofc there was a big impact outside NYC). But may have got that wrong.
Either way, these are huge damages, they will happen again, and it’s imperative to deal with them one way or another!
